The generator(ac) is only giving out 5 volts AC on the yellow and white and 10volts on either colour and green(earth). So i think its shot.
My question is
A. does anyone have a generator for this bike?
B. do you know of a matching generator from another bike that would be cheeper and easier to get hold of from a breakers?
I have asked my local Honda dealer and they are quoting over £70 for it to be rebuilt, or £200 plus for a new part... i would like to find a secondhand replacement for about £30
A) get a copy of motorcycle news look in the parts section for a company called partfinder it a quid for the call tell them what you are looking for leaving your number with them they will then get up to 200 breakers ring you if they have the part then you can sort out with them.also look in used bike guide they always have a list of bikes that people break you may find that part.also a company called dave silver sales cheap bits for honda,s you may be surprised sorry i don,t have there number to hand but do to my knowledge have a web site.also try ebay.good huntingIs it possible to generate electricity using an electric motor to turn the generator?Q) Is it possible to use an electric motor to turn a generator to generate electricity, then in turn for the generator to supply a minute amount of the generated electricity to power the motor that turns the generator whilst still feeding the national grid with electricity.
The generator would produce 33,000 volts of electricity but the motor would be powered by a 1,000 volt current using 5,000 watts of electric power.
A) to turn electricity into a reuseable resource has been every engineer/electricians dream, if it could be done it would become the planets cheapest energy source. How can I make a Vandergraph generator and does anyone have any other cool static electric?Q) expermiments I can show my kids?
Someone needs to come up with a seriously quality answer if they going to take 1st place from 1st answer guy!
A) This is quite a shocking subject.
You need a small electric motor, a long rubber inner tube cut into a rubber band, two pulleys, a copper wire brush at the top just milimeters away from the rubber band, a metal bowl to take the charge and the motor and base should be grounded.
To create the shaft between the base and the top bowl you can use PVC pipe inwhich the band runs inside.
It will build up a charge and strike out at any metal on you so better not be wearing any ear rings, nose rings or rings on anyother part of your body as this could really hurt.
Take an electrical tester probe, neon. It will like this up. The same is true of a clear candleopra bulb; you'll be able to see the lightening inside the bulb.
You can take a metal bowl, hold it with insulated tongs and it will strike lightening at it. As it builds up a charge, it will disapate to the ground. If you have a florestent bulb for a lantern, it'll light that up several feet away as the lightening strikes the grounding plate.
A plastic straw with a straight pin stuck through it will create an ionic generator. If you place your hands on the globe and start it up with the person on a rubber mat, their hair will fly up in the air, if the generator is powerful enough.
It might be easier for you to buy a kit or one already made. The only thing better than a van der Graff generator would be a Tesla coil of which you can buy kits to make as well.I have a juice machine but i want to know how i would make it work if i didnt have any plugs outside?Q) Basically i want to know how i could make the juice machine work without having electricity outside since i want to sell juice outside would i have to use an electric generator?
A) Common sence here would go a lonfg way!
It needs Electricity yeah?
Well. A genorator would be required to use it away from the house!A few reasons why Britain is GREAT. PS BEER Was invented by the Sumerians, ie Mesopotamians!
A) and lots more - i agree with Veronica Alicia - we invent these things and allow others to make the money or take the credit - it's the British way. On the other hand, history has been kind to the Romans, who seem to be credited with inventions they pinched off others - usually the Greeks. The Ancient Mesopotamians and Ancient Egyptians should also get credit for many inventions, as should the Chinese, but for modern times, there is no one to beat the Brits....what type/size generator do i need to buy to use mains appliances on it when i go camping .?Q) how long will a genny run with a full tank as i will need it to run all night., is there any other way of having mains electric when camping (apart from electric hook up) (all the hook ups have gone where i have booked and i need uninterupted supply of electricity throughout the night)
also i booked last month and at the time there was hook ups available ,but circumstances have changed this week and when i called back about the hook up they are all gone, they are going to make an exception and allow me to use a generator on the site because they are not allowed usually
A) Every appliance that you buy states on it how many watts it uses.
Hair dryer 300w heater 1000w kettle 1000w etc. These are guide values.
Remember do not plug in more than the value of your machine. Most machines you will find are in the region of 750w. This size machine can be purchased for £60 - 100. 6 - 8 hour running for about £6. If you use gas lighting you can get some heat from these as well.

Electric Generator?Q) A generator uses a coil that has 140 turns and a 0.35 T magnetic field. The frequency of this generator is 60.0 Hz, and its emf has an rms value of 120 V. Assuming that each turn of the coil is a square (an approximation), determine the length of the wire from which the coil is made.
A) E = mu n A dB/dt, where mu is the permittivity of space, 1E-8; n is the number of turns, A is the area of the coil, dB/dt is the change in magnetic field, which will have its peak value when the winding wire is moving transverse to the field, and the peak value of E will be 120 sqrt(2). Solve for A and take the square root.Electric generator powerd by an electric motor?Q) I've always wondered if this has ever been tried. If I only had the money to get the parts needed I think it would be a fun to try although I bet you folks will tell me right off the bat that it's a matter of watts output or something I'm overlooking. My idea is to jump start a generator with a gas powered motor or battery pack and use an electric motor to turn a generator motor. I would like to know if anyone has actually tried this... I know if it is possible it should be out there already but hey sometimes its the simple ideas that get overlooked... but in general I know this is wishful thinking.
the point is to create a self powering generator.. if at all to maybe create enough extra power to trickle charge a set of batteries like those used in photovoltaic systems. Also first answer.. if you lose energy right off the bat the system would not keep running. Think about what you said.
A) "a self powering generator"....
OK your last name is Kramer and you never set foot outside your appartment. Am I right? Why can't a generator power an electric motor which in turn powers the generator?Q) Perpetual power. Why can't you take a gas engine driven electric generator, use the generator to power an electric motor. Use that same electric motor drive the generator to power that electric motor. I know there is a reason/principle, but I can't remember it.
A) You could but each time energy is transfered some of it is lost. Thus you have less than 100% efficientcy. How can you make an electric generator?Q) I own 5 acres of property. Other then my gas generator, I don't have electricity on it. I have a travel trailer on it with an electric fridge and I love camping there. In Home Depot, I have seen a converter that you hook up to your car battery and I have also seen what appears to be an electric generator. I asked someone at Home Depot how long the "electric generator" would run a small fridge. He told me it wouldn't be a long time, but suggested using a marine battery with a converer. I am thinking I could purchase several batteries, a converter and a battery charger. Does that sound like somethink that might work?
I do have a 5000 watt gas generator on my property. I just don't want to have to run it all the time if I am camping for several days or a week at a time. We all know the prices of gas these days.
A) Sure that will work. With two marine batteries and lights you will have to recharge them about every 2-7 days. You will need to use a gas generator to recharge the batteries. Or you can buy something like a 100 watt solar panel to recharge them.
Most rv's work like this. If you drive with your camper a lot you might look into running some lines from you main truck battery to your marines so you can charge them all at the same time. But remember to put in a switch to turn it off so you can't drain all of them and get stuck somewhere.Home made electric generator?Q) Anyone point me where to find help in building a electric generator, only something to charge a battery to light a bulb?
I have an old electric drill, maybe run it bacwords?
A) As you try various motors, you'll find MOST AC motors are not generators, however DC motors are. This is because electrical energy is generated when a coil moves through a magnetic field, and many AC motors do not use permanent magnet, instead use another coil to generate such magnetic field. This basically means you need an external power to start the motor.... so reverse is not necessary true.
You didn't give me much idea on SCALE of your project. How big of a battery and how big of a lamp? If on larger scale, yes, an automotive alternator will work, IF you can source enough energy to turn the shaft... on the smaller scale, a hobby motor will work fine as generator. You can easily turn it with your finger or a small windmill.
Not the generator in the same sense but photo voltaic panel will work just fine as well. You might want to consider it if you are not set on traditional generators.Any difference between electric motor & electric generator?Q) I'd like to build a simple electric generator. Can I just use any electric motor, and reverse the process by providing the spinning action myself to produce electric current?
A) Theoretically : A motor when given power supply , converts it into mechanical energy (by rotation)
And When
A motor is given mechanical energy (by rotating shaft ) , it will produce electrical energy
This is practically true for permanent , external field excited motors , ie (the ones that have permanent magnets )
If you have motor with stator that is Electromagnet and turns Magnetic only on applying the electric power supply , then in motor rotation does not produce electric power , or the motor does not acts as generator when operated by rotating its shaft
(ABX)A homemade electric generator-problems?Q) I was trying to make a small model electric generator to light an LED. I wrapped a LOT (1000) turns of enamal copper wire round a 35mm filem tube and put a magnet inside and shook it up , and connected thr led to the exposed ends ( after using sand paper on the wire ends ).
Nothing happended, Does anyone have any experience with this? or any tips for me?
Thanks
A) I see three potential problems here.
1) LED's works on DC and the unit you described will generate AC, if anything. So you may need to include a rectifier diode and possibly a filter capacitor to achieve enough continuous DC power to light the LED. You will need a minimum of 1.5V-2V of the correct polarity supplying a few milliamps to light most LED's. Also, if the voltage across the LED is applied in reverse above 5V-6V you may destroy the LED internally. And AC reverses continuously.
2) The arrangement you have will be very inefficient because the stator (stationary coil) is not wrapped around any iron or steel. You may possibly get the LED to light with this setup if you pass a strong enough bar magnet in the correct direction near the coil. But you could also generate more power by just wrapping the coil around something iron or steel like a nail or a bolt.
3) The direction that the magnet travels should consistently be at a right angle to the axis of the coil. In other words, your best results should occur when you pass one pole of a magnet across the end of the coil, not through the center of it. When the magnet moves only in the center of the coil, opposing currents in different parts of the coil will tend to cancel each other out.
One of my favorite generator experiments involves connecting two identical permanent magnet DC hobby motors together in series. If you spin one it acts as a generator and cause the other to turn as well. Spin the other and the process is reversed. It is like an invisible mechanical link.
WKHow does a electric generator work?Q) I need to know how an electric generator work. I know that you need coper and a magnet. You then need to move the magnet across from a distance of the coper coil to generate electricity. I need to know more details.
A) A moving magnetic lines of force, produced by a permanent magnet or by an electromagnet, cutting across a conductor produces an EMF in the conductor.steps in converting an electric motor to an electric generator?Q) example: can i convert an electic fans electric motor to a generator
A) OK after much searching found a close answer or at least the foundation to a close answer.
http://amasci.com/amateur/coilgen.html
So if theory is correct by making the center of the motor, ht bundle of wires stationary, or re-wrapping the core of the motor in such a way that you had two wires extending out, to connect to whatever you were looking to power.
Then spinning the outer casing, where the magnets are attached, you would in theory go from a motor to a generator. Of course this is all speculation, hope your test go well.training in automatic voltaje regulator for electric generator?Q) training in automatic voltaje regulator for electric generator, features caraacteriscts
A) Yeah ... Tell the army recruiter that you want to train in automatic voltage regulators for electric generators ...and he'll set you right up.
